Frequently asked questions
Booking and payment
Who am I booking with?
Your booking and payment are with Travelpedia Travel Ltd, our London office (England and Wales, company no. 17299925). Your tour is organized and operated in Türkiye by Travelpedia DMC Turizm, a Group A travel agency licensed by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and a member of TÜRSAB (license no. 10807) since 2018. Both companies have the same owner and team.
How much do I pay when I book?
You pay a 30% deposit by card when you book. The remaining 70% is charged automatically to the same card 30 days before you travel, and we email you a reminder 7 days before that. If you book within 29 days of your start date, the full amount is due at booking.
What currency are your prices in?
All prices are in US dollars (USD), per person, and you are charged in USD. We do not add card fees. Your bank may charge a foreign transaction fee because payments are processed outside the United States, so check with your card issuer.
Is it safe to pay online?
Yes. Payments are processed by Stripe, which is certified as a PCI DSS Level 1 Service Provider, the highest level in the payments industry. Your card number goes directly to Stripe and is never stored on our servers, and our website uses HTTPS encryption.
What is your cancellation policy?
Cancel 30 days or more before your start date and we refund 100%, including the deposit. Between 30 and 15 days you get 70% back, between 14 and 8 days 50%, and within 7 days there is no refund. Refunds go back to your card within 10 business days.
Can I change my dates after booking?
Yes. Date changes are free if you ask 30 days or more before your original start date, subject to availability. You can also add travelers or nights at any time while availability lasts; the price is recalculated for the new group size.
Choosing a tour
How much does a private tour of Turkey cost?
For two travelers, our multi-day private tours cost about $235 to $555 per person per day, including hotels, a licensed guide, a private vehicle and, on most tours, domestic flights and entrance fees. For example, the 7-Day Highlights tour is $2,100 per person and the 14-Day Grand Tour $4,795. The price per person falls as your party grows, to about $170 per day for six or more.
Which tour is best for first-time visitors to Turkey?
With one week, the 7-Day Highlights tour covers Istanbul, Cappadocia, Ephesus and Pamukkale with three domestic flights, from $2,100 per person for two travelers. With twelve days, the 12-Day tour via Troy and Pergamon covers the complete classic route at a steadier pace, from $4,050.
Which tour is best for seniors or a slower pace?
The 13-Day tour at a slower pace is our most relaxed itinerary, with several nights in each region and three domestic flights, from $5,250 per person for two travelers. Every tour can be slowed down further, and our guide to traveling in Turkey with limited mobility explains which sites involve the most walking.
Which tour is best for families with children?
The 6-Day Istanbul & Cappadocia tour (from $1,400 per person for two adults) and the 8-Day Istanbul, Cappadocia, Ephesus & Pamukkale tour (from $2,435) suit families best: moderate pace, flights instead of long drives, and private transfers. Children up to 1 year old travel free and children aged 2 to 6 pay a reduced child price.
Which tour is best for Christians and church groups?
The 10-Day Seven Churches tour with Istanbul and Cappadocia (from $2,435 per person for two travelers) covers all seven churches of Revelation and Ephesus, with Istanbul and Cappadocia. With less time, the 5-day Seven Churches tours start from İzmir ($1,175) or Istanbul ($1,385). Larger church groups pay less per person.
Which tour is best if we have been to Turkey before?
Our off the beaten path tours: the 6-Day Southeast tour to Göbekli Tepe, Mount Nemrut and Mardin (from $3,340 per person for two travelers), the 9-Day Cappadocia & Mesopotamia tour (from $4,865), or the 12-Day tour through Safranbolu, Cappadocia, Sagalassos and Fethiye (from $6,480).
Our tours
What does "private tour" mean?
Your guide, vehicle and driver are for your group only. There are no other travelers on your tour, you start each day when you like within the program, and you can spend longer where you are interested. Prices are per person and depend on group size, because the guide and vehicle cost is shared by your group.
Who will our guide be?
One of our licensed national guides. Our core team studied tourism together at Adnan Menderes University and has guided for 14 to 15 years each; in some regions we work with trusted licensed colleagues. We do not promise a specific guide by name, but you can meet the team on our Our guides page.
Can you change an itinerary or build one for us?
Yes. Every tour can be adjusted: more nights, a slower pace, different hotels or extra sites. You can also use our Build your trip page to choose regions, and we send a written day-by-day plan with a fixed price within 24 hours.
What kind of hotels do you use?
Most tours use well-located 4-star hotels and a cave hotel in Cappadocia. Each tour page names the hotels or the standard, followed by "or similar". On most tours you can upgrade to 5-star hotels for a supplement shown on the tour page.
Are international flights included?
No. You book your own flights to and from Türkiye. Domestic flights inside Türkiye are included when the tour page says so, and we arrange all airport transfers in Türkiye.
Do you offer guides in languages other than English?
English is included. Spanish, French, German, Italian or Russian guiding is available for a per-group supplement shown on each tour page. Chinese and Japanese guides are subject to availability and confirmed before we charge you.
Are your tours suitable for children or travelers with limited mobility?
Yes, with planning. Children aged 0 to 1 travel free and children aged 2 to 6 pay a child price. Many ancient sites have uneven ground and steps, so tell us about any mobility needs before booking and we will adapt the pace, the hotels and the sites.
Do you organize trips for church groups?
Yes. We plan private trips for churches, Bible study groups and pilgrimage groups, with a price prepared for your group size and dates. See our Church and group travel page or write to us.
Before you travel
Do US citizens need a visa for Turkey?
No. As of October 2026, US citizens with an ordinary passport can visit Türkiye without a visa for up to 90 days in any 180-day period. Your passport should be valid for at least 6 months beyond your trip. Rules can change, so check our visa guide and official sources before you travel.
How much should we tip?
Tipping is never required. As a guide, we suggest about $10 per traveler per day for your guide and $5 per traveler per day for your driver, given at the end of the tour. Our tipping guide covers restaurants, hotels and other services.
Do we need travel insurance?
Insurance is not included, and we strongly recommend it. Choose a policy that covers medical care abroad, medical evacuation and trip cancellation.
How do we reach you during the trip?
You receive a WhatsApp number for our team in Türkiye, available 24/7 during your trip, and your guide and driver have phones with them at all times. Before your trip, we reply to emails and WhatsApp messages within a few hours, 7 days a week.
